We’re into the home stretch, and our race is heating up. With the help of tens of thousands of dollars from special interest groups, our opponent is increasing his negative attacks. He is making a last-ditch attempt to distort Ty’s record through deceptive robocalls, TV and mail. He’s desperate and he’ll throw anything and everything he’s got at us in the final days of this campaign.

That’s why we need you. Ty’s been running hard — knocking on doors and making phone calls to listen to the people of his district so he can continue to fight for them in Raleigh. But he can’t win this election alone. On the big day, we need you to be the face of the campaign, greeting voters at the polls, canvassing, making calls to get out the vote, and more.

When people cast their vote vote on Election Day, we want to make sure they know Ty for the effective and accessible representative he is and has been – not as some grainy, distorted picture they saw in a mailer.

If you’ve been watching TV lately, you’ve probably seen our new commercial. For those who haven’t — or for those who just can’t get enough of it — we’ve finally gotten in up online. Enjoy!

As you’ve probably heard, this evening Ty will moderate a District Dialogue on Religion, Ethics, and Politics at the Church of the Nativity at 8849 Ray Road, Raleigh. The event starts at 6:30 and should last until about 8:00.

The event is open to the public, but for those of you who can’t make it we’re trying something new: the entire dialogue will be live streamed online at www.votetyharrell.com/blog/live.

This will be the final District Dialogue before the election, and given the topic ought to be a compelling discussion. Special guests include Dean Michael Smith, UNC School of Government; Rev. George Clifford; and Eric Michaux, Attorney. We hope you’ll be able to join us in person or online!

This past weekend had the campaign going in full swing! Thanks to the Wake County Young Democrats, Planned Parenthood, and NARAL for getting folks out for an awesome canvass Saturday morning. We had almost 25 volunteers out knocking on doors, spreading the word about Ty’s important race and early voting opportunities.

When he wasn’t out knocking on doors, Ty also made it around to an Indian American Candidate’s forum and two early vote rallies. With 15 days to go, things have never been busier. We need your help! Clear your calendars now for next weekend — we’ll be meeting at 9:30 Saturday morning at the Lake Lynn Community Center for another round of canvassing. There’s no time to waste!

City leaders in the 41st District are lining up in support of Ty’s re-election bid! Mayors Charles Meeker of Raleigh, Jan Faulkner of Morrisville and Harold Weinbrecht of Cary have endorsed Ty for a second term in the General Assembly. The 41st district includes all of Morrisville and parts of Raleigh, Cary and Apex.

The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee announced today that Ty’s campaign was selected as an ”Essential Race” for 2008.  This means Ty’s race will receive national attention and strong support from the DLCC!  Ty’s campaign was one of 15 selected from a nationwide pool of legislative campaigns for this recognition.
